Tearing paper into shreds is an oddly satisfying activity. Ask any toddler. And if you’re all grown up, you don’t have to stop at ripping paper apart. You can piece the bits together to make art.
Walk into the Urban Ladder store on the 28th of October, to learn the art of making collages. To many of us, a collage is no more than a photo montage laid out on a chart. But in the art world, collage is serious business. It is a medium as important as oil paints, watercolours and all the rest. A key piece of the modernist art movement, collages use a rich visual language that is layered with meaning.
At this workshop, facilitators from Bloom and Grow will teach you how to make a mosaic style collage. You will recreate an impressionist version of scenery, an actual photograph, or a live element. You will experience the visceral pleasure of shredding crisp, colourful paper and putting it back together to make something entirely unique. You will exercise your imagination and indulge your senses. And you will take home proof of your innate creativity. Come, try it out!
