Learn to make Marzipan Candy Sweets and Kalkals at a ‘A Special Christmas Goodies Workshop’ at BLOOM AND GROW, Koramangala on November 20th, 2016
Trainer –
Bridget White-Kumar, renowned author of 7 Cookery Books on Anglo-Indian Cuisine will share her family recipes and hold a hands-on session in the making of a Traditional Christmas Cake, Marzipan Candy Sweets, Kalkals and the very special Steamed Christmas Plum Pudding. She’ll take you step by step through the preparation of these traditional Goodies right from chopping the dry fruit required for the Christmas Cake and Pudding right to the finish. She will explain about the significance of these treats during Christmas.
ABOUT THE COOKING WORKSHOP-
It will be an interactive and hands on workshop where the participants would be involved in every step of the preparation thereby learning the whole process of preparing these traditional Christmas Goodies.
Session 2 –
KALKALS or KULKULS are crunchy inch-long curled or shell shaped sweetened fried dough Sweets that are specially prepared at Christmas time. Participants will make the special soft dough with flour, sugar, eggs, coconut milk and butter to a soft dough and then form the Kalkals by rolling small balls of the dough on the tines of a fork to form a shell or a scroll. They will then assist in frying the kalkals in hot oil. To finish off, The Kalkals / Kulkuls will be rolled in powdered sugar or frosted or coated in hot melted sugar syrup
MARZIPAN CANDY SWEET is one of the sweets made at Christmas time. It is made from ground almonds so the participants will assist in making the Marzipan paste and then they would get to make the marzipan candy in the shapes of their choice.
The Classes are divided into 2 sessions as under: Participants could opt for whichever session they prefer.
Session 1 – Traditional Christmas Cake and Christmas Plum Pudding
Session 2 – Kalkals and Marzipan Candy
Each participant will get to take home the Recipes of the dishes prepared at the workshop
CHARGES:
Rs.2,500.00 per participant for each Session and Rs 5,000/- for both sessions. (This includes the ingredients required for the lesson)
