WHAT IS KERALA MURAL PAINTING?
Kerala mural is an ancient traditional art form established after independence particularly in Kerala. The mural stories are derived from the purana which depict the story of god and goddess. Kerala mural painting is not only seen on temple walls you can also see it on the walls of ancient Christian churches.

Materials needed –
1. Seven Acrylic colour ( yellow ocher, scarlet red, burntsienna, black,white, sap green, and phthalo blue)
2. Yellow carbon sheet ( for tracing)
3. A canvas ( size – A4)
4. Three brushes – 0.4 round thin brush, a flat brush ( any size) 10 round brush ( note – brush size 10)
5. A palette
6. Waste cloth

Note :
– We don’t use natural dyes, we use only acrylic colours.
– Once you are registered, participants will be added to whatsapp group, for ease in communication with the steps to join in.
Madhubani Painting originated from madhubani district of Mithila region of Bihar. Madhubani paintings are drawn in accordance with a fixed theme and accordingly symbols, lines, patterns are drawn. Madhubani Paintings belong to the category of folk art.These paintings mostly depict nature and religious motifs and the themes generally depict dieties,nature,fishes,peacock etc.Natural objects like the sun,the moon, and the religious plants like tulsi are also widely painted,along with the scenes from the royal court and social events like weddings.The paintings are done on handmade paper,canvas,dupattas,stoles etc.
In this workshop, Madhubani art form and its different methods will be explained in detail. The Traditional style of Madhubani painting will be taught in the class on a A3 size handmade paper.
