String Art Workshop in Bangalore
String Art Workshop
String art, or pin and thread art, is characterized by an arrangement of colored thread strung between points to form geometric patterns or representational designs, sometimes with other artist material comprising the remainder of the work. Thread, wire, or string is wound around a grid of nails hammered into a wooden board.
String art has its origins in the ‘curve stitch’ activities invented by Mary Everest Boole at the end of the 19th century to make mathematical ideas more accessible to children.
It became popular as a mode of visual expression in the 1970’s, when artists began to use it to create increasingly complex figures. The basis of all string art, though, is one of the main ideas in calculus: the use of straight lines to represent curves.
In this workshop you will learn how to make interesting compositions on a 4” x 6” wooden key holder using string art. You will also learn its applications on various materials to create beautiful products.
