Just a note at the beginning, this is NOT a workshop on glass painting. This is the original stained glass art where glass sheets are hand cut and soldered with lead and tin to make a piece of art. Tiffany-style lampshades and door and window panels are the best examples of this art form.

In the beginner’s workshop of stained glass you will learn basic and advanced (basically all forms) of scoring and cutting glass sheets. For an eg. straight line, curves, triangles, circles, and deeper circular cuts, etc. The next step would be grinding of the glass, then Foiling it and finally soldering it to make a two sun-catchers for your balcony/garden.Beaded wires and hooks will be provided along with your finished pieces. Although the practice cuts will be done on clear glass, we shall be using ONLY original colored imported glass for your finished piece.
Takeaway – 3 finished pieces.

Bloom & Grow is conducting a 5-day art program that includes an introduction to Indian folk as well as contemporary art forms.
The five-day program is designed for beginners and the following will be included:

1. Day 1 – Gond Art on Pots/Canvas 
Participants will learn Gond art form and its different methods will be explained in detail. Get familiar with Gond as an art form. Learn about its story, grammar, colors,  and special characteristics. The day will be about doing pretty pots with the Gond Art. Participants may also choose to do the art form on canvas.

2. Day 2 – Lippan Art
Mud and Mirror work (also known as Lippan Kaam) is a traditional craft of Kutch, Gujarat. Learn to work with clay and mirrors on canvas and create a beautiful art piece. What more, one can also do walls in Lippan.

3. Day 3 – Bottle Painting with Neon Colors

Learn to paint glass bottles with bright neon colors and use them as beautiful home deco

4. Day 4 – Impasto Painting
Impasto is a technique used in painting, where the paint is laid on an area of the surface in very thick layers so that brush or painting-knife strokes are visible. When dry, impasto provides texture. Layer up a canvas with vibrant tube paints, and use a brush to make your artwork pop.

5. Day 5 – Woodcut 
Woodcut is among the oldest printmaking techniques and continues to be a strong graphic tradition today. This workshop will introduce you to the tools and methods needed to allow you to carve your own block and print from your own relief woodblocks. You will explore carving techniques to obtain a range of texture, depth, and dramatic contrast to create strong visual statements in your artwork.
Participants will do woodcut on 2 coasters.

The art program is open to anyone who loves to learn and create and is over 10 years of age.

A Mural is any piece of artwork painted or applied directly on a wall, ceiling or other permanent surface. A distinguishing characteristic of mural painting is that the architectural elements of the given space are harmoniously incorporated into the picture.
 
Within the two and a half hours, the workshop will help the participants to create from scratch mural artworks which are ready to placed in their living rooms. The participants will be creating air-dry clay works (murals) on mounted canvas which would then be gently painted over using Acrylic paints.
 
In this workshop, participants will learn-
1. Understanding and appreciating mural art
2. Choosing the subject of choice for the artwork
3. Preparing the air dry clay and other required materials
4. Sculpting the clay
5. Coloring the artwork using acrylic paints and
6. Editing and final touches
 
Artist- Hansa Nyati. She is a Jaipur based artist and works on a variety of mediums ranging from oil paintings to bronze sculptures. Recently, a majority of her works have been home-decor items inspired by tribal art and nature-inspired motifs. Bloom and Grow is hosting a macrame pot holder workshop on Saturday, August 10th. Macrame pot holders are 
perfect and beautiful way to have plants adorn our space. Macramé is a form of textile produced using knotting (rather than weaving or knitting) techniques.
Macramé can be done with cotton twine, linen, hemp, jute, leather, yarn, wool or even ripped t-shirts, essentially any kind of cord!
What we will do:
Starting with basics, you will craft an original piece using brown jute ropes or white thread.

Cutting glass bottles is fun, easy and good for the environment. We will Upcycle/Recycle glass bottles into a beautiful electric lamp that can accessorize your home.
In the workshop, participants will learn the following:
– How to score the glass
– How to cut glass by stressing it
– How to smooth glass and grind it
Finally, participants will make lamps from the cut glass bottle
Please bring 3 round glass cleaned bottles with you – Please bring at least one beer bottle.
Remove labels from all bottles – To remove labels from bottles, dip the bottles in soapy water overnight. Once the label comes off, any sticky residue can be scrubbed off with soap and a scrubber.

Nature is full of colours, colours so beautiful and captivating that men from early times have tried to capture its ephemeral beauty to decorate themselves and their homes as colour seem to speak the very language of the soul.
 
Art of traditional block printing on to cotton cloth is thought to have existed in India for over 4500 years. Evidence of the Indian craftsman’s unsurpassed skill with printed and dyed cotton cloth appears through out the history. They used complex techniques to achieve desired patterns, and they changed from place to place depending on the weather conditions and materials available. Each pattern, motif meant something and spoke of their identity.
 
The workshop will introduce you to the basics of hand block printing and dyeing using natural materials available around you. It will cover the following :
– Understanding natural dyes and its properties
– Understanding block printing practices in India
– Identifying locally available materials
– Preparing the fabric for dyeing and mordanting
– Practice dyeing using two local materials
– How to extract colours and how to use them as dye and colour paste
– Techniques of block printing, practice printing and printing on scarf to take home
– Post treatment of fabric
 
You will be introduced to the locally available ingredients that can be used for dyeing at the workshop. We will be making samples using two ingredients Manjistha and Katachu. Also you will get to carry Annatto seeds and Palash flowers to try at home.
