Madhubani Art – Beginner weekend workshop in Bangalore
Madhubani, a form of Indian folk art, originated from the Madhubani district in the Mithila region of Bihar. For centuries, the women of Mithila have practiced this art by decorating the walls of their houses with linear and vibrant designs depicting mythological deities and nature. These days Madhubani designs are seen on handmade paper, canvas, and fabric.
In this workshop, the participants will learn about the different styles of Madhubani paintings and create one of their own.
It will be a guided session, so you need not have any prior experience in painting.

Pop art is art movement that emerged in the 1950s. Andy Warhol was an American artist who was a leading figure in the visual art movement known as Pop Art. His artworks are filled with colorful representations which are quite distinctive.
What to Expect:
There will be an introduction about pop art. Legendary pop artists and their pop art works will be mentioned. Followed by a hands-on session of course! Participants will be guided to make their pop art step by step using simple technique with selected colours.
We will start by drawing out sketches and then you will be guided to create a pop art portrait (in Andy Warhol style) with acrylic paints on cartridge sheets. Participants will take home one finished artwork to add trendiness to your living space. Come and immerse yourself in the colorful world of pop art!

For those not great/ not confident with sketching, carbon papers will be provided.
You can choose any one image out of the 4 options which we will provide for your artwork.
About the Facilitator: Trishna Patnaik, a BSc (in Life Sciences) and MBA (in Marketing) by qualification but an artist by choice. A self-taught artist based in Mumbai, Trishna has been practising art for over 14 years now. After she had a professional stint in various reputed corporates, she realised that she wanted to do something more meaningful. She found her true calling in her passion, that is painting.

What is Decoupage?
Decoupage is an art form that uses specially printed decoupage tissue napkins or decoupage paper to decorate various surfaces, using special techniques and painting effects, which will be taught to you, which make the finished product appear as if it has been hand-painted.
What is Pichwai art?
Pichwai also known as “Pichwai” is a traditional Indian art having its origins hundreds of years ago in Rajasthan. Pichwai art features intricate paintings portraying the baby Lord Krishna (Sreenath ji) which is usually done on fabric using dark rich hues.
Have fun creating a unique work of a combination of hand-painted lotuses and leaves, and decoupage Pichwai Sreenathji and Pichwai cows art.
