Thangka Painting (Lotus) – Online Workshop with Krishna Tashi Palmo
Thangka paintings are rich in meaning and usually depicts a Buddhist deity, scene, or mandala. Traditionally, Thangka is designed to tell the life of Buddha, as well as other influential Lamas and deities. Thangka artists believe that painting Thangkas aid in the spiritual path to enlightenment, as this religious art is used as a meditation tool.
As part of the 8 lucky signs that are of importance in a Thangka painting, we will be doing 1 sign which is the Thangka lotus. The 8 lucky signs are found often in Buddhist monasteries and in many homes. We will be doing one of them which is ‘The Thangka lotus’ that signifies spiritual purity. Krishna will also take us into the world of Thangka with stories, as we indulge in painting it.
*The communication for this workshop will be primarily in Hindi and moderated in English and Hindi.

– Brushes (0-8 if you have) Else, 4 no brush and in place of 0 no. brush , you could also use thin tip markers of red and black colours.
About the Artist: Krishna Tashi Palmo is an expert Thangka painting artist. She is certified in Tibetan Traditional Buddhist Thangka art from T.c.v Patlikhul District Kullu Himachal Pradesh. She is an enthusiastic participant of art workshops and exhibited her artworks at Lahaul, Kullu Manali, Shimal, Jaipur, Delhi, Korea and Hong Kong. She’s proud of her Thangka heritage and culture. She hopes that with her work she could make people see this art for what it is, magical and beautiful and understand the significance of this meditative art form.

Impasto is a technique of applying thick and dramatic strokes of paint on canvas. It adds a textural dimension to the canvas whilst the paint stands out from the surface. The textures get accentuated with the use of a palette knife.

Blue pottery in India is widely recognized as a traditional craft of Jaipur, though it is Turko-Persian in origin. The name “blue pottery” comes from the eye catching blue dye used to colour the pottery.
Learn to make faux blue pottery designs on a plate as a lovely home decor piece.

Day 2 : Tuesday, 19th Oct Bottle Painting – Upcycle your glass bottles to a beautiful piece of art using some fun and endearing art techniques making most of the materials available with you. These bottles may be used as vases, lampshade holders, etc.
Materials required – Empty glass/ plastic/ metal bottle or jar, acrylic paints, brushes sponge (optional) earbuds/ Q tips, any marker or sketch pen.
Day 3: Wednesday, 20th Oct Harry Potter Painting – Little treat to all Potterheads, as Hedwig brings you your Letter from Hogwarts. After getting sorted into your Houses we shall swish and flick our brushes to paint the adorable Hedwig. All supplies will be brought straight from Diagon Alley to your desk. Do not hold back if you have never painted before, we have got it all sorted for you.

Reverse Decoupage and Image Transfer – Exhaustive Demonstration Live Session
Participants will learn the following two techniques in the sessions:
1) Reverse decoupage is a technique when print and paints are applied underneath the glass. Reverse decoupage will add a wonderful dimension to your crafting skills. We will learn the reverse decoupage on a plate. Post the session, You may use the same technique to recycles/upcycle glass bottles.
2) Image Transfer is the art of transferring the print on to the surface. After attending the session, you will be able to use this technique on any possible type of surface such as canvas, metal, the glass you will be able to transfer an image on the surface you want to!

Resin is a two-part compound that hardens to give a clear and glossy finish. Geode is a geological formation consisting of volcanic rocks, minerals, sediments, crystals, etc. Using the resin medium, we would be bringing out patterns with resin, stones, crystals, etc. to create a geode look-alike.
